Skip-Count by Twos

Counting faster by jumping over numbers!

What is Skip-Counting by Twos?

Skip-counting is like counting while hopping!
Instead of saying every number (1, 2, 3, 4...), we jump over numbers and count by twos (2, 4, 6, 8...). It's faster and helps us see patterns in numbers!

How to Skip-Count by Twos

1️⃣ Start at 0 or 2 (both are fine!)

2️⃣ Add 2 each time you count

3️⃣ Say the numbers out loud as you go!

Let's Practice Together!

Example 1: Counting Shoes

Let's count pairs of shoes by twos! Each pair has 2 shoes.

Total shoes: 0

Example 2: Number Line Hop

Click on the numbers as you count by twos!

Start with 0 or 2!

Parent Tips 🌟

  • Make it physical: Have your child hop, jump, or clap with each count to reinforce the pattern through movement.
  • Use everyday objects: Count pairs of socks, eyes on stuffed animals, or wheels on toy cars to practice skip-counting naturally.
  • Sing it out: Make up a simple song or chant for counting by twos to help memorize the sequence.
